Bree
Anara Brilliant RN RA

Bree is a six-month-younger half-sister of Adora, but she's quite different in style! She has more leg, she is more 'square.' She is really nice structurally, so it's not surprising that she tends to pose well. When she stands, she always seems to wind up in a stacked pose. Her head is not great -- she needs more cushioning under the eyes to bring her muzzle into visual proportion with her skull. But she has a lovely neck and shoulder and excellent angulation front and rear, nice topline, good tailset. She is quite large for a girl, which probably counts against her in the ring almost as much as her plain head, so I have basically stuck to performance with her.
Bree has had one smaller-than-average litter of very nice puppies, but then recently "missed" when bred to a very good stud dog. Because of ongoing reproductive issues with her and her sisters, I now intend to spay Bree sometime in the summer of 2011 and place her out as a pet. I am now actively looking for a suitable owner, so read all about her below and see if you might find her perfect!
Any decent Cavalier loves meeting strangers, but Bree is the one who leaps into stranger's laps at shows, sometimes with a great deal of determination. She will pick a particular person out and every time she gets a chance, up she'll go into that person's lap! Fortunately, people who attend dog shows rarely mind if a Cavalier wants to pretend she is their personal lapdog.
Bree is not quite as fast in the Rally ring as my other girls, which means I never tripped over her. She is still fast enough that she usually won any tie, so that's fine. She has her three Rally titles and has a fantastic moving down that looks very impressive! She remembers everything with almost no practicing and is very easy to show.
I think Bree might do well in regular obedience, not only because of her natural retrieve but because she takes things seriously and thinks things through. I think she's the one who would figure out in her own head how to really do an exercise and then care about doing it right. Pippa is fun but a bit too exciting in the regular obedience ring -- I think Bree might give a more reliable performance. She may not be fast enough to make a top-flight agility dog, though she would enjoy "playing" agility and I'm sure she would usually qualify.
Bree is now nearly three and a half years old. She is calm, low energy for a Cavalier, a natural retriever who would rather play fetch with her person than wrestle with other dogs. She is extremely housetrained and knows her own mind, so if she doesn't want to go out when the other dogs charge out the door, I never worry. I know she will bark when she wants to go out. I think she deliberately stays in when the rest go out so that she can play fetch with me for a few uninterrupted minutes. She is very clever!
